On a magical misty afternoon in October, Robert proposed to Katie on an overlook at Leo Carillo State Beach, above the crashing waves of the Pacific. It's always so much fun to shoot a proposal, because I get to be part of the excited planning moments. Robert and I scouted out the spot and talked through time of day and where I would hide; who would arrive and when. He poured so much thought into the details of his proposal and the words he shared with Katie, and when the moment came... it was even better than he could have planned!
I'm so excited for Robert and Katie to spend the rest of their lives together. Finding your person in this big world is a priceless gift. I wanted to propose at one location, but upon scouting it ahead of time, we discovered that it was completely overrun with other couples doing proposal and engagement shoots. Brantley decided to propose in Malibu! What a beautiful moment (and surprise) he put together for Hailey. He put so many personal touches into the day, including smuggling her favorite dress onto the trip so she would have something nice to wear for the moment. He rented the iconic Eagles Landing House in Malibu with stunning ocean views. After proposing, we shot a few photos at the house then went down to the little pocket beach on Pacific Coast Highway for more photos with the sand and waves.

How Nick kept this dreamy Malibu beach proposal a secret is beyond me! A casual California getaway (to visit family) turned into a weekend in a beach house, private chef, concert, etc., etc., etc.
Just in case you're confused about how this managed to be a surprise proposal when Trinity (the girlfriend) is obviously aware that I am there, here's the ruse: the private chef (Michelle) is a friend of mine. She *wink wink* needed some photography to update her website and invited me along to snap photos of this cute couple having a lovely dinner on a beachfront balcony. To keep the charade going, I took a lot of photos of food and the space, and also kept an eye on Nick to document the moment he took a knee tableside. After that, the ruse was up and we headed down to the beach for some sweet celebratory engagement photos before leaving the couple at the beach house to toast their futures together. What a beautiful scene and a smashing success! Congrats to Nick and Trinity.
Steven and Contessa. Truly there's enough love here to fill the ocean and have more to spare! Steven and Contessa were on a getaway to sunny southern California and he planned a little something extra... a marriage proposal! He called me up and I helped plan the perfect surprise setup: dinner (so she would be dressed up) and a sunset drive up Pacific Coast Highway. They stopped off at the dreamy El Matador State Beach and, well, you can look through the pictures to gather the rest. Proposals are my favorite, FAVORITE, FAVORITE thing ever because this is real life! This is the good stuff.

Daniel hit the ball out of the park with this Malibu proposal to Erica. Under the ruse of celebrating her college graduation, he bought her a new dress and made plans for brunch in Malibu and a fun day out. The one thing he left out? A clifftop proposal at Point Dume. She was surprised but held it together long enough to say YES, as I kept snapping photos in the bushes. Congratulations, Daniel and Erica, on this beautiful moment and big decision to spend the rest of your life together!

I'm loving these photos of Blair's proposal to Kristina at the beach in Malibu! The two were on vacation (from the east coast), and had scheduled a photo shoot under the guise of maternity photos at the beach. The two are expecting their first child in a couple months, and this vacation was their "babymoon." Kristina knew about the photoshoot, but she didn't know about the surprise proposal. It was the perfect guise to get her all dressed up at this beautiful location and let the magic ensue.

I don't know how he kept it a secret, but Nishant's Malibu proposal (while on vacation) went perfectly—even though he had never been to this beach, even though he somehow managed to get Pooja dressed up and get her a manicure, and even though it was a busy spring weekend in LA with everyone enjoying the beach at the same time.

This Malibu beach proposal was about as picture perfect as you can possibly get. With a hazy golden sunset and a troop of family members flown in *surprise* from the east coast, to celebrate the moment when Taylor said yes when Bray asked the most important question of both their lives. With a little planning ahead (making sure they knew and I knew where to stand), we pulled off these beautiful photos of the moment and the aftermath, with all the hugs, kisses, and champagne toasts from beloved family.
And I even got to take 20 to sneak these two away for a couples-only session to snap a set of photos for their invitations, frames, wedding website, etc. Congratulations, Bray and Taylor, on your engagement!
For Abdul's Malibu beach proposal, he knew that Alex loves sunflowers, so he created a pathway of sunflowers in the sand and waited on the beach with a ring box in his pocket. She showed up, en route to "brunch with sister," and the stage was set. She saw Abdul, he grabbed her hand and led her down the sunflower path, got down on one knee... and she said yes. After that we snapped a bunch of beautiful engagement photos at the beach! Can't wait for these two lovebirds to get married on the beach in a few months.
Malibu Proposal Photographer | Kevin Proposes to Holly at Point Dume Engagement Photography9/20/2019
It just doesn't get any better than this. Kevin reached out to me a few weeks ago because he was planning to propose to Holly, the love of his life, at Point Dume in Malibu, California, and he wanted some photos to document the moment. Best. Decision. Ever. At sunrise, just as the beautiful Pacific Ocean was being bathed in morning light, Kevin led Holly up to the clifftop and sat with her a few moments to reflect on their past and future together. And in that inspiring location, with only the waves and the seagulls (and me, hiding in the bushes) as witness, Kevin asked Holly if she would spend the rest of her life with him. And of course she said yes!
