Brand and social content shoot for real estate investor, Brittany Arnason (@investorgirlbritt on Instagram)
Brittany is up to big things in the real estate world! You can learn more about her background on the Bigger Pockets podcast (started investing in real estate at 18 and DIY-ed her way through renovation after renovation) and now regularly speaks on the big stages at real estate investor conventions. She's the real deal and she generously shares tips, education, and encouragement through her social accounts. That's where this photoshoot comes in. It takes a lot of behind the scenes work to keep cranking out quality content in the form of posts, reels, and stories. So Brittany and I worked together to plan an epic day of content creation. In one afternoon, she and I, together with one epic house in Malibu, and a pile of outfit changes banked loads of quality high resolution photos (mostly for stills, posts, and stories) as well as plenty of video content (shot on iPhone because it's all about hitting the easy button!). A brand photo-video session like this is essential for any content creator to develop a library of quality, relevant images that you can use year round for a variety of purposes. Pasea Hotel and Spa's annual Easter brunch is a must-go event for the whole family (if you want to meet a human-sized Easter bunny, that is).
Pasea Hotel and Spa is a dog friendly Huntington Beach surf hotel (I can't believe I just wrote that sentence about a real place). Basically it's heaven. Here are a bunch of shots from their annual "Pupchella" event that is basically exactly as it sounds: dogs and live music. Like I said... heaven.
Nothing says summertime like ocean waves, tacos, cocktails, and... roller skating?!? At Pasea Hotel and Spa in Huntington Beach, that's exactly right. These fun-lovin' photos highlight the easy breezy good times had by all at the annual roller skating rink at Pasea Hotel and Spa that pops up every summer. Here for a good (disco) time, not a long time. Don't miss out on your chance to limbo under a disco ball right next to the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean.
Being an Orange County hotel photographer has its perks... like great views of the ocean, balconies overlooking the pool, and steaming mugs of black coffee enjoyed for hours in downstairs lobby nooks. Someone at Pasea Hotel & Spa had their thinking cap on during COVID, because they came out with the best idea of the summer: rooftop concerts, exclusively for the enjoyment of hotel guests on their balconies. All you need is a room service dessert and a glass of champagne and you have the best box seat in town for LA's up and coming talent.
Pepperdine's Caruso School of Law is a top-ranked institution located in a world-famous city. Together with the law school's marketing team, I shot many of the photos that adorn this issue of The Brief, Pepperdine Law's periodical. In order to evoke an elegant balance of slick professionalism and approachable humanity, we set up several shoots both on campus and around Malibu over the course of several days. The intention of the project was to capture the student experience inside and outside the classroom, as well as the top-level scholarship and professional chops that make this institution so special.

Clean Republic is a brand new cleaning and disinfectant supply company that aims to make a splash in the consumer industry, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic season, when families are taking a new look at how and what they clean. In order to tell their story online via social media and web in a compelling way, it was absolutely essential to have a robust library of photo assets that showcase the product in use, as well as the vision, values, ethos, and aesthetic of the company. They shipped me a box of product with a few specific requests: show cleaning of high touch areas and items, groceries and supplies, the product application to home fitness and any where else around the house that you're inspired to snap photos.
Here are the commercial photos that emerged for Clean Republic's product line: clean and simple photos, lightly stylized, uncluttered backgrounds, and authentic storytelling. Here we've got a beautiful set of event coverage photos, showcasing one of the many awesome events Pepperdine University held to encourage students, staff and the broader community to build community around a common goal: fundraising. For Pepperdine's annual Give2Pepp day, a week full of festivities rolls out, bringing the community together and encouraging individuals to make their gifts—large and small—count for a bigger purpose.
One of these events was free In-N-Out for all takers. Students and staff lined up to have fun giving to the university and scarf down double-doubles in return. You can support Pepperdine University's Give2Pepp campaign year round by donating via Venmo to @give2pepp They came. They saw. They picked out pants and then immediately ran into the ocean while wearing them. This crew of awesome active ladies (and one exuberant boy) went for a beach run and impromptu yoga sesh to test out lululemon athletica's latest innovation in stretchy, sweat-wicking fabric technology. (Spoiler alert: the pants passed, and I couldn't stop myself from picking out a pair too.)
This set of photojournalist-style event photos showcases the details, setting, and experience of an event at Pepperdine's Caruso School of Law back in March. Pepperdine University relies on gifts from individual donors to support scholarships and the many meaningful programs they offer their students. To that end, once a year, the university encourages its community (students, staff, and friends) to give back through the Give2Pepp campaign. These images will be used for digital and print storytelling, social media, and to promote giving in future years.
