Got to shoot this fun local CrossFit competition in Austin at CrossFit Renew! It's always fun to document the energy and community vibe of a fitness event. Great job everyone!
They came. They saw. They picked out pants and then immediately ran into the ocean while wearing them. This crew of awesome active ladies (and one exuberant boy) went for a beach run and impromptu yoga sesh to test out lululemon athletica's latest innovation in stretchy, sweat-wicking fabric technology. (Spoiler alert: the pants passed, and I couldn't stop myself from picking out a pair too.)
Back in September, I did a six-day mountaineering course on Mount Baker, a 10,781 foot active volcano in Washington's northern Cascades. This might very well have been the coolest thing I did all year. In one week's time, I learned how to strap crampons onto my double-walled mountaineering boots (and walk on a glacier in them), set up a tent on a glacier using snow anchors, tie an alpine butterfly knot, self-arrest with an ice axe, and pee in a Nalgene water bottle.
Thanks to David and Ari of Alpine Ascents, for taking good care of our crew, making sure we didn't die, and leading us across countless crevasses, to the summit of Mount Baker. Natalie Backman is one part gumby, one part philosopher, and all dynamo yoga teacher, based in sunny southern California. She's one of my favorite people to shoot because she's like the Audrey Hepburn of yoga—exquisitely beautiful and photogenic and spunky but also soulful and authentic and down to earth.
You may recognize Natalie from her wine country wedding to the dreamy Ivo >> Yoga is beautiful. Nature is beautiful. Yoga in nature, well, it's pretty mind-blowing. Beth and I hiked out to these lovely little meadows in Zuma Canyon in Malibu in April to snap these pretty shots. If you're in the LA area and you love a good, safe, aligned, and also challenging yoga flow, check out Beth Prandini and hit up one of her classes.
If you've never had a spin class with Marcus McKinnon of Studio BPM, you're missing out. Think nightclub meets Daybreaker meets inspirational pep talk meets the sweatiest you'll be all week (but don't worry, there's a huge fan overhead to cool you down).
Marcus is a brand new ambassador for lululemon, which means he wears and stands by the brand and is connected on a community level with the team and guests of one store—Calabasas in particular. We took over Studio BPM beautiful indoor studio for this shoot, played with every lighting setup they have (including the disco ball), and came out with these beauties. BIRTHFIT is a worldwide community of educators who want to see a world where childbirth is empowered and elevated. They held their annual summit in Venice, CA, and it was complete with some functional training, talks, workshops, yoga, and a closing circle. These are images that BIRTHFIT HQ (whose website I built!) and the various BIRTHFIT regional directors (many of whose websites I also built!) will use for social media and to spruce up their websites with quality images.

I've shot a lot of families, and I've shot a few dads, but I've never done Father's Day portraits! This was a treat to get some (grown up) kids alone with their dads, sharing some favorite activities. This shoot was for a window display for lululemon athletica Calabasas, but the images will be treasured for years to come by the families represented. What a special treat it was to snap some meaningful, candid moments of these wonderful humans and the remarkable men they call Dad. Love these? Email me to set up a shoot today >> [email protected]
Like these? Making women feel beautiful is one of my favorite things to do. Whether you're a yogi, a mom or a rocket scientist (or all three), I would love to put together a shoot that feels authentic to you. Email me.
