These Hermosa Beach park photos are just too cute for words! With little Micah just arrived one week previous, these photos were the perfect moment to welcome him into the world and introduce him to family and friends around the country who had yet to meet him. What a sweet little peanut! We had the best time exploring around the pond and under the trees at Polliwog Park in Hermosa Beach, on a softly lit late summer afternoon. Congratulations to these first time parents!
And if Christy and Darin look familiar, it's because their beautiful Point Dume maternity photos happened just a few weeks before Micah arrived (funny how that happens...) Holy moly these Point Dume maternity photos knocked my socks off! Yeah, yeah, I know what you're going to say.... that sunset light situation takes it all to the next level, and it's true. But Darin and Christy made it oh-so-fun with these whimsical stripes and playful outfits as they count down the days until they meet their firstborn son.
And If you take family portraits during COVID, you have to cue the obligatory mask photo! These sweet Runyon Canyon maternity photos were so much fun to plan and create together with Danie and Tony. In some ways, COVID has narrowed down our collective focus by decreasing our access to gatherings and people. And in other ways it has broadened our focus, by introducing us to people we wouldn’t otherwise have met. Like Danie and Tony. They moved to Los Angeles a month before COVID hit, and knew almost no one. In a new house, with a new baby on the way, they waited. And waited. The world around them was changing and they hadn’t even had the chance to get their feet under them.
When they reached out to me (connected through another client of mine), they suggested Runyon Canyon because it’s around the corner from their home… but they’d never been there because of the lockdown! It was so much fun to explore the trails and views on this moody misty June morning, as a first time for all of us! Congratulations to Danie and Tony as you prepare and welcome Baby Matilda into this world very soon! The Steinbacher family has a new baby in the house! Meet little Rhett, who arrived a few days early because he just couldn't wait to meet his big sister. We snapped these photos at home, with Rhett at 11 days old. Perfect timing for (mostly) sleepy snuggles with some open-eyed moments.
Photos at home are a great way to have newborn pictures made, because everyone is most comfortable and you have all the gear you need in case of a baby pee puddle. I recommend snapping newborn photos when Baby is 6-10 days old because newborn skin is still perfectly smooth with no breakouts (common with newborns). Welcome to the world Zara!! This birth was so special because it's my FIRST ever (other than my own, which I don't remember) that I've been in the room for. Mama Rina has been a friend of mine for years and as their family has grown, I've photographed baby bumps and kiddos and cuddles, so I was SO honored when she asked me if I would be willing to photograph the moments of Zara's birth. I jumped for joy and quickly cancelled everything in my social calendar for her due date week.
And then the full moon came and it was Father's Day and pretty much all the stars aligned for Zara to come into the world a few minutes after midnight on June 17th. I've never experienced something so earthy and heavenly at the same time. I couldn't stop talking about it for the next week. Enjoy clicking through Zara's birth photos (or at least the ones that are G-rated enough to be online!) |
