The newest Brentwood fitness club on the block in summer 2014 is Orangetheory Fitness. The company, with a nationwide network of locations, uses the science of heart rate based interval training to keep you in "the orange zone" (or 84%-91% of your max heart rate) where optimum fat loss occurs. That's the short version. If you're still curious, read the science behind it. Each client wears a heart rate monitor and their heart rate shows up on a television screen up on the wall.

The slick new Brentwood (11661 San Vicente Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90049) location asked me to snap some pictures during a recent sneak peek friends and family workout. The workout unfolded in 3 basic types of movement, divided into intervals: running on a treadmill, rowing on a WaterRower (cool!) and varied weight training.

CrossFit Malibu is a collection of fitness enthusiasts who mostly like to surf, run, sail, hike and rock climb but are occasionally known to lift heavy weights over their heads indoors--but only if a corrugated metal quonset hut qualifies as "indoors." I shot most of these images during a rousing Saturday morning workout.

lululemon athletica | SLO Pop-Up Store Grand Opening

In the time-honored tradition of summer camps and pop-up tents, lululemon athletica (yoga/running/bliss-wear retailer) is spending the summer making new friends in new places. As summer hits us with full force, a lululemon pop-up store is opening its doors next week in San Luis Obispo. Read the San Luis Obispo Tribune article for more info.
Though seasonal and (perhaps) short-lived, the SLO Pop-Up is causing a healthy stir in town. Before the doors opened, the store facebook page already had over 600 likes. When store manager Chelsea asked me to take care of their grand opening publicity, I couldn't wait to get started.
Congratulations to Chelsea and the rest of the SLO team on all your hard work and preparation. Gotta run... late for yoga class!

The integrated marketing campaign for SLO's grand opening weekend involved printed post cards and flyers for distributing around town and a line of digital graphics for instagram, facebook, and e-blasting.
