Malibu Engagement Photos | Matthew and María at El Matador

There is a lot to look forward to these days... and Matthew and Maria's wedding is one of them! I can't wait for these two to tie the knot in Mexico this spring (mezcal tasting, anyone?), but for now I just get to hang out with them as a rad engaged couple and enjoy sunset beach clifftop picnics in Malibu with them.
Love you both. May your love continue to grow as you take on the world side by side.

What a powerhouse! Congratulations to Simone, on graduating from high school and beginning of a new and exciting chapter in life. Simon's Malibu senior pictures pack as much personality, fun and creativity as Simone does. I love that she brought along a pair of sunglasses to spice up her session, and her sister (aka travel buddy and best friend) was willing to jump in for a few snaps at the end, which made it extra special.

It was COVID. Their venue changed. A lot of plans changed. But one thing that didn't change was the fact that Joel and Claire were definitely going to say their vows and dance the night away surrounded by family and friends. So happy for these two and their love story!

Sunset photos that look like Tuscany but are actually Conejo Valley, CA
People got so aggressive on the dance floor that they actually moved the dance floor several feet by the end of the night

Quality headshots are an essential part of putting your best foot forward. From creating a polished LinkedIn profile to looking your best on your company's team webpage, you should have a great headshot that you love sharing with the world.

Headshot Tips

Dress the part. Think about what you're planning to use this headshot for, and dress as though you already have the job. If you're sprucing up your LinkedIn profile to land a job in finance when you graduate, maybe that means shaving the beard, getting a haircut, or borrowing a suit and tie from a friend. But if you're building your career as a personal trainer, show up like you would for a fitness photoshoot.
Hair up or hair down? As long as your hair is out of your face and we can see both your eyes and eyebrows, you can style your hair however you want.
Wear this not that. This session will occur in a natural park environment with plenty of grass and trees in the background. So you'll be framed by soft greens. With that in mind, I recommend opting for light neutrals or pastels. The exception to this is a dark, classic suit and tie... that's always appropriate for a professional headshot, regardless of the backdrop. Colors and clothing to avoid? Neons and large, busy patterns.
Accessories. Jewelry is fine, as long as it enhances rather than detracts from your overall look. If you're torn on whether to wear a piece of jewelry, ask the people you live with, "What do you notice first?" and if they instantly gravitate toward the accessory, maybe don't wear it for your headshot. You want this photo to feature you!

These Pepperdine senior photos are knocking my socks off! Pepperdine is beautiful, Malibu is beautiful, and the hiking trail on the ridgeline above campus, with its view of both campus and the sweeping coastline of Malibu is off the charts. Congratulations to Sam, as she steps out into the world after college! I'm so glad you took the moment to capture these graduation photos in Malibu, before leaving town, so you could always remember the place where you grew and changed during college.

Pepperdine's Caruso School of Law is a top-ranked institution located in a world-famous city. Together with the law school's marketing team, I shot many of the photos that adorn this issue of The Brief, Pepperdine Law's periodical. In order to evoke an elegant balance of slick professionalism and approachable humanity, we set up several shoots both on campus and around Malibu over the course of several days. The intention of the project was to capture the student experience inside and outside the classroom, as well as the top-level scholarship and professional chops that make this institution so special.

Malibu Engagement Photographer | Erin and Jordan Engagement Pictures at Zuma Canyon

Erin and Jordan's Malibu engagement photos were so much fun! If you can believe it, these pics took place on a June evening, despite all the moody fog in the air.
I can't decide whether Erin Is a woodland nymph or a vampire-vibe fairytale princess, which I suppose makes Jordan either a demi-god or a mod Prince Charming, respectively. Either way, the likelihood of a talking animal sidekick is 11/10.
As if this love story didn't already resemble a fairytale, Jordan proposed with Disney mouse ears... and I'm not crying, you're crying.
