Honestly I didn't even know 3-day-old babies could smile. But Baby Goldie can! What a precious family photo session at home this was, with a new baby in the house and two doting older siblings and two more loving parents. This family is amazing and I so enjoy photographing them through the years and capturing moments like this at home with the kids.
A Pepperdine student club needed headshots for their members, as a value-add. These photos will serve as LinkedIn headshots, resumé headshots, or just a great asset to have on hand as they pursue their professional development.
In this particular case, the photos were shot indoors, after dark, so I augmented the lighting situation with studio lights and a flash to make for clean coloring and even skin tones. Korey and Bev are engaged!!!! And we snapped these awesome sunset beach engagement photos at El Matador State Beach on a gorgeous January evening a few months before their wedding. I'm so excited to photograph Korey and Bev's wedding in March.
These holiday mini-sessions are SUCH a fun way to score some beautiful family photos at a fraction of the cost (and stress) of a full-length session. I schedule mini-session dates a couple times each year, near the holidays (November-ish) and in the spring/early summer (April/May).
I usually schedule mini-sessions at a park, where there is quick and easy access to a parking lot, and very predictable lighting all day long, so every family gets photos they love, regardless of what time slot they choose. Though most people who participate in mini-sessions are families with young kids, that doesn't have to be the case... mini-sessions are for everyone!! Just got engaged and want to nab some engagement photos at a reasonable price? Want an economical option for senior portraits for your graduating high schooler? Just want a set of great photos of your growing kids? There are all sorts of reasons to schedule a mini-session. Just don't wait, because these time slots always fill up. Email me (cecily.breeding@gmail.com) to receive emails about future mini-sessions >> These Prather kids... they seem to grow up right before my eyes! Especially the twins. It's so much fun to photograph this family as they grow and change and discover more about the world and one another. Each of these awesome kids is a tornado of energy and personality, and the last two are TWINS (which is, like, energy squared). When we planned the family's annual photos, we decided to try something new and head for the Santa Monica Pier on a Sunday evening in November.
Rather than work against the crowds, we decided to work with them, creating little oases of family connection in the midst of the bustle of the pier. Games, ice cream cones, climbing onto and over and through everything. I'll be honest: family photos at the Santa Monica Pier aren't for everyone. It's a little chaotic and at least two people will wind up in tears, usually at exactly the moment that everyone else is smiling. Someone will fall down, someone will wind up with chocolate all over his or her face. But if those are the photos you want (and if you scroll down you might decide those are exactly the photos you want), a set of family photos at the Santa Monica Pier just might be the wild circus ride you're looking for. The Steinbacher family has a new baby in the house! Meet little Rhett, who arrived a few days early because he just couldn't wait to meet his big sister. We snapped these photos at home, with Rhett at 11 days old. Perfect timing for (mostly) sleepy snuggles with some open-eyed moments.
Photos at home are a great way to have newborn pictures made, because everyone is most comfortable and you have all the gear you need in case of a baby pee puddle. I recommend snapping newborn photos when Baby is 6-10 days old because newborn skin is still perfectly smooth with no breakouts (common with newborns). I feel like you could rename this family photoshoot, "The Many Faces of Ford." This kid is a HOOT. He smiles, he roars, he laughs, he yells, he pouts, he smolders, and he does it all in rapid succession on after the other.
We scheduled this sweet beach family photo session in Malibu at El Matador Beach on a beautiful weekday evening in October. (Weekday is key... that's why we have the whole beach to ourselves!) Cam and Abby are friends of mine who I've known since their newlywed days at law school. Now here they are with a firecracker of a son, expecting another in the new year! Loved shooting this beautiful sunny family session at our legendary El Matador coastline. Who says families have to have little kids to be so much fun? This awesome family of six laughed and teased and splashed and played their way all over El Matador beach and every photo seemed better than the last.
Anneleise and Jai are engaged and this is them playing (and kissing) all over downtown Los Angeles and they are fire together and I just cannot wait until their wedding in November. Whooo. That was a run-on sentence but there's just too much to say about this exceptional couple. They remind me of the saying that love is friendship caught fire. Because Anneleise and Jai are obviously best friends, but they're also like two substances that, when brought close to one another, ignite into a wild and beautiful flame that is full of warmth but also adventure. That's how I feel when I think about Anneleise and Jai.
Enjoy clicking through these awesome photos of the two of them playing around at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Broad, and the surrounding arts district. Here's the secret to how it looks like they have the whole place to themselves.... we shot these at 8am on a Sunday morning. There was literally no one around. Caren and Frank's ultra-local wedding was full of lifelong neighbors and friends who are like family. The Lodge at Malibou Lake, with it's tasteful mix of vintage and modern details, provided the perfect backdrop for Caren and Frank to get ready, walk down the aisle, and celebrate the beginning of their life together surrounded by friends and family.
