These wedding pictures at El Matador Beach are particularly special because Tamara and Jon travelled in from out of town just to shoot with me! They had their wedding on another date and wanted to shoot these wedding portraits at the beach in Malibu in an unhurried, private way, so they could get some beautiful variety for their wedding album and to frame for their walls. These Hermosa Beach park photos are just too cute for words! With little Micah just arrived one week previous, these photos were the perfect moment to welcome him into the world and introduce him to family and friends around the country who had yet to meet him. What a sweet little peanut! We had the best time exploring around the pond and under the trees at Polliwog Park in Hermosa Beach, on a softly lit late summer afternoon. Congratulations to these first time parents!
And if Christy and Darin look familiar, it's because their beautiful Point Dume maternity photos happened just a few weeks before Micah arrived (funny how that happens...) These Pepperdine senior photos are knocking my socks off! Pepperdine is beautiful, Malibu is beautiful, and the hiking trail on the ridgeline above campus, with its view of both campus and the sweeping coastline of Malibu is off the charts. Congratulations to Sam, as she steps out into the world after college! I'm so glad you took the moment to capture these graduation photos in Malibu, before leaving town, so you could always remember the place where you grew and changed during college.
This El Matador beach family photo session was just the right mix of energetic big brother, sweet twin sisters, and everyone super excited to welcome a new baby into the world. Congratulations to the awesome Piippo family as you away the arrival of little Number Four!
Holy moly these Point Dume maternity photos knocked my socks off! Yeah, yeah, I know what you're going to say.... that sunset light situation takes it all to the next level, and it's true. But Darin and Christy made it oh-so-fun with these whimsical stripes and playful outfits as they count down the days until they meet their firstborn son.
And If you take family portraits during COVID, you have to cue the obligatory mask photo! Thousand Oaks family photos at home during COVID! Baby Claire was born at the very beginning of the pandemic (can you imagine?!?) and mama Alex missed out on newborn photos. BUT she didn't miss out on a sweet set of family photos with little Claire making allll the googly giggly baby noises and smiles. I'm so pleased with how these family photos at home turned out. Hanging out in the backyard enjoying one anothers' company. It just doesn't get better than this.
These sweet Runyon Canyon maternity photos were so much fun to plan and create together with Danie and Tony. In some ways, COVID has narrowed down our collective focus by decreasing our access to gatherings and people. And in other ways it has broadened our focus, by introducing us to people we wouldn’t otherwise have met. Like Danie and Tony. They moved to Los Angeles a month before COVID hit, and knew almost no one. In a new house, with a new baby on the way, they waited. And waited. The world around them was changing and they hadn’t even had the chance to get their feet under them.
When they reached out to me (connected through another client of mine), they suggested Runyon Canyon because it’s around the corner from their home… but they’d never been there because of the lockdown! It was so much fun to explore the trails and views on this moody misty June morning, as a first time for all of us! Congratulations to Danie and Tony as you prepare and welcome Baby Matilda into this world very soon! Even (and especially) in strange times, the life and growth of new babies reminds us that life goes on. These sweet sunset moments with the Tikson family are particularly special because the photoshoot occurred just days before they packed up the car and road-tripped across the country for an assignment with the US Navy... in the midst of a quarantine lock down. Strange times. But also beautiful times. And also sweet times.
Congratulations Ford and Hannah on your new chapter and your amazing new baby girl Ember!! Congratulations Blake on your graduation from Pepperdine!! Your accomplishment is about so much more than this moment. It's about the last four years (and the last decade) of hard work you have put in, developing your knowledge and experience to become the person you are today.
Alaina's Pepperdine senior portraits were a meaningful opportunity to commemorate her four years studying, living, growing, and playing in this beautiful beachside town. Though the coronavirus pandemic cut her time on campus short, she (wisely) made sure to schedule some portraits in Malibu before the beaches and trails closed. The simple backdrop of a canyon trail in springtime allows Alaina's natural and youthful beauty to glow.
Congratulations Alaina, to you and your 2020 classmates on all you have worked for an accomplished!! |
