This girl!!! WHUT. She smiles, she glows, she smolders, she slays. She set my camera on fire with her laughter AND her beauty. I may be dating myself here but I've known Bri since she was 10 (maybe even longer), so to get to snap pictures of her as a senior in high school, as a full-grown adult is just blowing my mind. And she totally owned it, as you'll see in these photos. I loved this session because her sisters and mama (those Plank women are thick as thieves) came along to her session to, well, hype her off camera, and then jump in a few sisters-and-mama portraits that are legit going to wind up in all their cell phone lock screen backgrounds (and in framed prints on their walls).
Thanks Bri for thinking of me to document these sweet, beautiful, meaningful moments in your exciting life! I can't wait to see what adventures are in store for you in the next chapter. What a powerhouse! Congratulations to Simone, on graduating from high school and beginning of a new and exciting chapter in life. Simon's Malibu senior pictures pack as much personality, fun and creativity as Simone does. I love that she brought along a pair of sunglasses to spice up her session, and her sister (aka travel buddy and best friend) was willing to jump in for a few snaps at the end, which made it extra special.
Karina and Pat's backyard COVID wedding was every bit as meaningful as it was laid back. They both got ready in Karina's mother and step dad's home, and said their vows in the backyard, then proceeded to dine and toast and laugh the night away in the spacious dining area (furniture moved out of the way to accommodate tables for the feast). What a delightful celebration of love and family and laughter and commitment this was, especially in the midst of a global pandemic. I'm so grateful to have be part of it!
Another day, another golden sunset, another beautiful beach family photo in Malibu, California. The Berggren family drove down from the bay area for a long weekend visit to chase away the Norcal mid-November blahs... and it worked! They were blessed with warm breezes and sunny afternoons and a sweet sunset session at the beach, to create some memories of this family adventure.
Being a Malibu family photographer means I get to hang out with happy (and treat-bribed) kids and their superstar parents in beautiful locations and I get to call it work. WHAT. Lucky me. Also I love these kids. I love watching them grow and I love being their special friend that takes pictures and I love seeing them make the same faces year after year, only in bigger and taller and more capable ways. Here's another round with the M family, as always a breath of fresh, joyful air (complements mostly of Mila, who could power a mid-sized city with her exuberance).
Being an Orange County hotel photographer has its perks... like great views of the ocean, balconies overlooking the pool, and steaming mugs of black coffee enjoyed for hours in downstairs lobby nooks. Someone at Pasea Hotel & Spa had their thinking cap on during COVID, because they came out with the best idea of the summer: rooftop concerts, exclusively for the enjoyment of hotel guests on their balconies. All you need is a room service dessert and a glass of champagne and you have the best box seat in town for LA's up and coming talent.
These Agoura Hills headshots were for yoga and meditation instructor Brian Hyman. Regardless of the industry, it's always a good idea to update headshots every two to three years. You can find Brian's meditations on Insight Timer. Thanks for hanging out Brian!
This sweet family's Malibu beach portraits came at just the right time. Brayden was born the first week of COVID, in isolation, and Kalei missed out on maternity photos and newborn photos. So these photos of 6-month-old Brayden are particularly special because they are his first photo shoot! And that face... what a sweet little nugget!
I loved spending a lovely golden hour with these three at El Matador, capturing a few special moments as a family. And this session was particularly special because Kalei and David are also engaged to be married next year! They hadn't shot engagement photos yet, so this session doubled as engagement pics (with the cutest little plus one ever). Congratulations Kalei and David! You have so much to be grateful for and excited about, and I'm glad that you can now treasure these sweet moments forever. Natalie's Malibu senior pictures occurred during a strange season in life. Remember COVID? (Oh yeah... it's still happening...) Her senior year got cut short. Her freshman year went online. So call these senior pictures, grad pictures, freshman pictures, COVID pictures. Whatever, it all happened in Malibu and Natalie is off the charts.
