Malibu Wedding Photography | Alicia and Reilly at Conejo Valley Church of Christ Wedding Photos6/22/2019
Alicia and Reilly got married at the church where Alicia grew up and where her father is a minister AND he officiated their wedding ceremony. And to add another level to the beautiful family symbolism, Alicia wore her mother’s wedding dress, which was customized and re-imagined by her mother-in-law. Crying yet? Oh, also she got ready at home, with her dog, and crossed the street to get married. The day couldn't have been more perfect, and with such incredible families, this marriage is destined for greatness.
After the ceremony in the church, the guests drove over the hill to Malibu where the reception was held on campus at Pepperdine University, where Alicia is an alum. With so many church and Pepperdine people in attendance, the whole day felt like a big family reunion (which is exactly how weddings should feel)! To see the photos, it totally doesn't look like June (look at that moody sky!) but that's just summer in Malibu: unpredictable. But with unpredictable comes reward and I couldn't be happier with Brian and Morgan's sweet beach first look and couple portraits, set to the backdrop of a moody sky and blue crashing waves.
Brian and Morgan honored their Jewish heritage with the signing of a beautiful ketubah before the ceremony, as well as the crowd-pleaser glass-stomp (mazal tov!) and of course the hora chair dance that always makes me cringe because I'm afraid someone is going to take a tumble (but not to worry... everyone survived). Congratulations to Brian and Morgan! It's so evident in your calm and peaceful chemistry that your companionship runs deep and true and I'm so happy for you to begin the rest of your life together! That's because we did the shoot at sunrise! That's right, this awesome couple got ready and met me at the beach at 6:45 am for sunrise (which turned out to be perfectly cloudy and all pastels all morning long) and it was totally worth it to have the WHOOLLE beach to ourselves! If you've been to El Matador, you know that it can be challenging to have a clean background due to other people enjoying the beach (who can blame them? It's stunning.) But a sunrise session at El Matador meant we were alone with the beautiful light, freshly smoothed sand, and expanse of rocks to climb all over. It was a dream come true!
Though based inland, Ilse and Louis wanted to snap elopement photos at El Matador because they getaway to the beach any chance they have (and I can totally see why!). I'm so thrilled they found me online (yay Google!) and we got to spend these special moments together making some truly frame-worthy images to commemorate the beginning of their life together. Stacy and Mark's March wedding at the legendary Wayfarer's Chapel in Palos Verdes, California, was nothing short of breathtaking. Full of light and glass, the space feels like a heavenly forest, and is the perfect space to say vows that will last a lifetime.
Stacy and Mark's sweet and playful relationship is a magnet for incredible people, and I had the best time joining in the celebration. It's not for everyone, but the Shooter-Only Package might be just what you were looking for.
Ryan and Celia's December 29th wedding was, in typical Southern California form, drenched in beautiful sunlight and warm weather. This beautiful Malibu West Beach Club wedding was complete with scarlet bridesmaid dresses and roses, fresh white tuxedo jackets on the groom and his gents, and (my favorite detail) the bride wore her mother-in-law to be's wedding gown, featuring a miles-long train that was just perfect for stunning sunset portraits. What a joyful celebration of a truly incredible couple!

I've known Shelby and Teller for years, first through Pepperdine, then through our church. It was so much fun to celebrate their amazing relationship (and out of this world families) together with our church community.
Limoneira Ranch was a home run for a location, because of the endless acres of orange and lemon groves. And when it's not wedding season, it's a full-fledged citrus grower. This location was a perfect representation of these two homegrown hearts of gold. Venue: Limoneira Ranch, Santa Paula, California Photography: Cecily Breeding (that’s me!) If Jackie and Nate were an event, they would be this one: outdoorsy, surfer-friendly, cabins, hours of barefoot dancing, majoring on the majors, minoring on the minors.
The venue, El Capitan Canyon in Santa Barbara, made this event the truly beautiful event that it was. Rustic cabins dotted around the property, trails and footbridges winding over streams and under oaks, next to rolling hills coated in soft grass, all framing a magnificent Pacific Ocean view. The outdoor ceremony ended just in time for a 3-minute December sprinkle, giving way to a sunny rainbow in the distance. After a portrait hour with family and wedding party (and a few extra minutes with the newlywed couple), the party moved down the hill to the reception area: complete with fire pits for lounging, red wine for sipping, and a live duo of banjo, guitar, harmonica, and bongo-playing brothers to crank out foot stomping tunes long into the night. Most of the guests spent the night on site in cabins. What a brilliant idea! Venue: El Capitan Canyon in Santa Barbara, California These two joyful lovebirds lit up an otherwise rainy and overcast October afternoon with the thousand-watt glow of Kelsey's smile and the dinosaur-themed, candy-strewn party they threw.
Location: Malibu West Beach Club Think you might recognize Kelsey and James? Probs because I shot their engagement session a few months back at Leo Carrillo.... at SUNRISE no less >> Yep, that's this same awesome, hilarious, adventurous, best-friends couple. |
