Alex and Abdul's Cambria elopement photos are beautiful because their wedding day was so special and full of meaningful family moments. On a sandy beach, in a circle of parents and siblings, the two of them pledged the rest of their lives to one another. And the rest of the evening was a better-than-Thanksgiving homemade feast shared on the back deck of their house overlooking the sunset and it was pretty much the greatest thing ever. Weddings don't have to be complicated. They can be barefoot on the sand with just your family within easy hugging distance. They can be no-music, no-fuss, just the basics, with Dad officiating the vows and brothers passing little jars of champagne. They can be on the sand of a public beach, with strangers walking by and offering their well-wishes. They can be simple. And beautiful. At the same time.
Erin and Andy did just that. These east-coasters celebrated their vows on the beach in Southern California, but they managed to avoid the 5-figure venue price tag by opting to gather their families on the sand at El Matador. On a sunny fall day, with a sprinkling of Angelenos enjoying the sunset nearby, Erin and Andy and eighteen family members circled up on the sand and shared a moment of new beginning. . After a quick set of family and couple photos, the whole crew piled into cars to share a candlelit farm to table meal together at the iconic Malibu Pier. . Simple, meaningful, and beautiful all rolled into one. St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral Wedding Photography | Calamigos Ranch Wedding Photography10/19/2019
Sion and Christina selected the picturesque St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral for their wedding ceremony and the equally beautiful Calamigos Ranch for their reception. I always love the gravitas and old-world class that a cathedral brings to the setting of wedding vows. Then afterward, treating all their loved ones to lavish food and dancing beneath the stars in Malibu was the perfect balance. It was truly an honor to document their special day! Just the right amount of indoor furniture moved outside, so guests would feel at home in the flow of the indoor-outdoor space. Just the right amount of seasonal flowers and grasses, adorning tables, chairs, and peeking out from behind lanterns as though they grew there. Just the right number of well-wishers, all hand-picked by the bride and groom and their families to symbolize their past and future together. Bride (Nicole) got ready at the home, which belongs to the groom's (Ben's) father, surrounded by her sisters, future in-laws, mama, and beloved dog, Snoopy. Once guests arrived, they found their seats amid the welcoming embrace of a hand-built teepee, bedecked with grasses and flowers. Ben and Nicole's ceremony was filled with happy tears, remembering loved ones and looking forward to many years of shared joy. Afterward, we snapped a few more photos in the nooks and crannies of the backyard as guests sipped cocktails and shared delicious bites.
San Francisco Wedding Photographer | Our Lady of the Presidio and SF Film Centre Wedding Photos9/28/2019
This is how much Katie and Doug's people love them; literally none of their guests live in San Francisco, and yet, when they planned a wedding in the city of the Golden Gate, over a hundred people flew in from across the country and across the ocean (Brad's Aussie!) for the celebration. With so many fun-loving (and sort of jet-lagged) people in town, Katie and Brad's wedding was a weekend-long series of festivities, complete with a rugby match at a pub the night before, loads of opportunities for sightseeing and hiking in the morning, and a picnic in the park the day after the wedding.
Unexpectedly, San Francisco's signature fog layer lifted right at sunset, allowing us a window of time for gorgeous (and windy!) couple photos in between the ceremony and the reception at SF Film Centre. Doug and Katie's Santa Barbara July wedding began in a park and ended up in an uproarious Italian-style party. This Alice Keck Park wedding was sunny and bright. After a post-ceremony portrait hour, the new couple and I did a photo-walk to Villa & Vine, where their friends and family awaited them to celebrate and wine down the evening together.

Katrina and Sergio's wedding was so totally THEM. They met at Pepperdine, so their ceremony was officiated by a beloved professor, who delivered his message beautifully in both English and Spanish, to honor the bicultural union of the United States and Bolivia. Bolivian traditional appetizers, Southern BBQ buffet for dinner. Bilingual table decorations. Live music from their line up of ultra-talented friends. Group dancing lessons taught by the bride herself. Desserts baked by the mother of the bride. What a wonderful way to kick off the lifetime of a wonderful new couple! With Jordan's impeccable sense of style and Simon's ability to keep everyone laughing, this wedding was a treat to document and participate in.
As beautiful as the blue stained glass window of the chapel is, those moments pale in comparison to the gorgeous post-ceremony couple photos we snapped on the cliffs overlooking Point Dume State Beach. Thank you Caitlin and Josh for being so dang fun AND willing to traipse through the wild orchard underbrush for your photos (it helped that you were wearing cowboy boots). Thank you also for introducing me to my new favorite venue, The Homestead at Oak Glen. This venue was the perfect choice for your celebration because they did everything (right down to the flowers and the photo booth) for you but they are also so creative and helpful in every way.
