When a boy from the mountains of Colorado marries a girl from Southern California farm country, they throw a pretty awesome party in a lemon orchard. I've known Shelby and Teller for years, first through Pepperdine, then through our church. It was so much fun to celebrate their amazing relationship (and out of this world families) together with our church community.
Limoneira Ranch was a home run for a location, because of the endless acres of orange and lemon groves. And when it's not wedding season, it's a full-fledged citrus grower. This location was a perfect representation of these two homegrown hearts of gold. Venue: Limoneira Ranch, Santa Paula, California Photography: Cecily Breeding (that’s me!) From barefoot bride Kaley to her goddess-dress bedecked bridesmaids to the poetically beautiful personalized vows, this ceremony left no sweet word unsaid. By the end of the night, even I was feeling all the feels.

They finish each others' sentences and make each other laugh so hard they can hardly breathe. When they look at each other, there is an unmistakable connection between them.
They picked Point Dume at sunset, under a full moon to commemorate their engagement, because of all the memories they have of sitting here watching the night sky when they were Pepperdine students, before love chased them across the country and back again. They're getting married just down the beach from Point Dume in September and it's gonna be an awesome party! Location: Point Dume State Beach, Malibu, CA In summer 2018, I had the privilege of working for Pepperdine as the assistant director for an international program in which 25 students spent a month living and serving with the Mission at Natuvu Creek in Fiji. If you scroll through the photos below, if it looks like we played a lot of volleyball, it's because we did. If it looks like everywhere you looked was an idyllic island scene, that's because it was. But you'll also see images of work, human connection, learning, studying, worship, beauty, laughter, and helping out any way we could. Check out Pepperdine's international program website for more information about Pepperdine's summer international programs, including Fiji >>
Steven and Ruth are Pepperdine sweethearts who put SO. MUCH. DANG. THOUGHT. into their wedding celebration. What a breath of fresh air and inspiration at the same time. Here's what I mean:
Steven and Ruth love their friends and family a whole bunch. Their relationship blossomed in the context of their close friend circle. Right from the start, they knew a few hours' long party wouldn't be enough time, so they decided to reserve a weekend retreat center and invite all their guests to enjoy Friday through Sunday in the mountains outside Yosemite, hiking, playing board games, sipping wine, and watching movies by a crackling fire until late in the night. In similar fashion, the ceremony unfolded with thoughtful and communal intention. Rather than walk down the aisle to the front to begin the ceremony, the gathering began like a church service, with worship, a message, and communion. Steven and Ruth waited in the back until all the guests were served, then they walked down the aisle and said their vows, exchanged their rings, and took communion together for the first time as husband and wife. Wedding Coordinator: Clarissa Ng Food/Catering: Famous Dave’s BBQ Music: Taylor Begert, Kyle Rogan Flowers: Christopher Yen Cake: Sam’s Club Dress: David’s Bridal Print Design: Kailee Kodama Steven and Ruth are Pepperdine sweethearts who wanted to celebrate the place where they met, fell in like, and then fell in love—on campus at Pepperdine University! This sweet afternoon session took us all over the usual (and not so usual spots) on campus at Pepperdine. We started in the middle of campus, sitting by the fountain (which wasn't running on account of the drought), then we popped over to the amphitheatre (the spot where Ruth first realized she like Steven), a quick snap in Stauffer Chapel, then we walked by the swing by Ruth's dorm where they had lots of heart to hearts. We had to make a stop at the most epic tree in Malibu, in front of the field house, then we wrapped up at Heroes Garden.
As a Pepperdine grad (and resident) myself, I must admit it was fun to see this campus in a new light! Created for Pepperdine School of Law, to encourage their students to give to the Student Emergency Fund as part of the university-wide giving day, Give2Pepp on March 7 annually. www.pepperdine.edu/give2pepp |
