an adventure in setting goals that matter
Everything I'm proud of in my life—from starting my own business, to cultivating a great marriage, to paying off student loan debt, to keeping a healthy body and mind—is the result of setting and working toward meaningful goals.
I'm not alone in this. One study revealed that people who set goals are 10 times more successful over the long term than those who don't. Goal-setting is very trendy right now. The field of positive psychology sings the praises of goal-setting. Any MBA program worth the cost of tuition will teach you the nuts and bolts of setting SMART goals. Open up any social media feed and you'll see #goals, #lifegoals, #couplegoals enough to make you a believer. So why doesn't everyone set and achieve their goals? Could It be that we're approaching goal-setting in the wrong way? I'm convinced that the reason everyone doesn't set and achieve meaningful goals is that they haven't learned how to start with their unique, personal values. The key to setting and achieving goals that are inherently meaningful and motivating is to start with a foundation of core values. Once you identify your core values, the path toward setting goals becomes clear. The Values, Vision, and Goals workshop is a guided journey to discover your personal values, get clear on your definition of success, craft a vision for your life, and see what takes shape from there. |

The Story of Values, Vision, and Goals I first learned to set goals in my early twenties, and it changed my life. For the first time ever, I was able to identify what was inherently motivating to me and define specific goals that led me toward becoming the person I wanted to be. I learned that goal-setting is about more than crossing the marathon finish line or landing a promotion (though those are frequently byproducts of goal-setting). Goal-setting is a practice that cultivates meaningful and permanent inner growth. I have spent the last ten years creating Values, Vision, and Goals. This is a goal-setting curriculum that is easy for anyone to grasp and implement. From first-timers to seasoned goal-setters, everyone will gain new insight and tools to identify and work toward the things they value most in life. Leading groups of individuals through this curriculum and watching the lightbulbs go on is one of my greatest joys. |
"I loved having some intentional time carved out to talk about tangible ways to think about goal setting. I also liked that there were handouts and applicable takeaways." —Susie Lee
