IT FEELS WEIRD TO BROADCAST THIS, BUT....
I've already had COVID-19
I tested positive on January 19, 2021 and fulfilled my quarantine on the 28th. Even by conservative analyses, that means I'll have antibodies for at least 2-4 months after being sick. (Isn't someone going to send me a medal for that?)

FOR PHOTOGRAPHY CLIENTS
Even though it seems like the outside world has come to a standstill, your life is still happening at full speed. Babies are being born. Kids are having birthdays. Seniors are graduating. Couples are saying their vows and beginning their new life together. All these moments are worth remembering with great photography. Don't let the shut downs rob you of having beautiful memories to treasure and pass down through the generations.
Here are some answers to a few of the most common questions related to photoshoots during the COVID pandemic.
The bottom line with all photography (and all service work during the pandemic) is that it is up to you to tell me what would make you feel comfortable working with me. There is no one size fits all precaution or method. And even if I follow all the stated mandates, that doesn't necessarily mean you're comfortable. It's essential that you share with me what your needs and preferences are, so you have a great time during your photography session.
ARE YOU DOING PHOTO SHOOTS RIGHT NOW?
Yes! Photo sessions can be safe and legal, even during this time of social distancing. Thanks to our beautiful Southern California climate, the majority of the photo shoots I do are outdoor in the sunshine. It's very easy to meet at the location and maintain a safe distance from one another for the duration of the session. Payment can be handled electronically. **Please let me know what precautions you would like me to observe during your session.**
WILL YOU TAKE PICTURES OF ME AND MY FAMILY INSIDE MY HOME OR BACKYARD, SUCH AS FOR A NEWBORN SESSION?
Totally. I'll be up front with you about whether I've been experiencing symptoms—of anything—and I would ask the same thing of you. I feel comfortable entering your home, and if we need to reschedule for any reason, it won't cost you anything extra. **Please let me know what precautions you would like me to observe during your session.**
ARE ANY OF YOUR USUAL PHOTO SHOOT LOCATIONS EVEN OPEN?
Yep! The public beaches and hiking trails are currently open. If you want to have a shoot at a private park or garden, such as the grounds of a hotel or university, that may be a different story. Let's call ahead before scheduling our session at a place like that.
WHAT'S YOUR RESCHEDULING POLICY FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
In the event that the client needs to reschedule the wedding photography for any reason (COVID or otherwise), there is no charge to reschedule. Just confirm that the new date is available in my calendar and I will update your contract. If the new date is not available in my calendar, the client is entitled to the refunds listed below.
WHAT'S YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
In the event that the client cancels the wedding photography for any reason (COVID or otherwise), the client is entitled to the following percentage of the booking fee (50% of the total cost of photography services):
I HAD TO CANCEL MY WEDDING AND MY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST FOR SOMEONE WHO STILL WANTS BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS TO COMMEMORATE GETTING MARRIED?
Just because you cancelled the ceremony and reception doesn't mean you have to forego having gorgeous photos of you and your beloved to commemorate this special moment in your life together. Let's show COVID whose boss and hook you up with a knockout photoshoot that will capture the beauty and resilience of your love, rather than the disappointment of cancelled plans. Grab a dress (maybe even THE dress), do up the hair and make-up, pick a wildflower bouquet, let's make some sunset magic happen. I would bill a session like this the same way I would an hour-long family photo session >>
FOR GRAPHIC & WEBSITE DESIGN CLIENTS
Are you using this time of quiet and distance to reevaluate your website and/or digital marketing game? KUDOS to you for turning these lockdown lemons into Quarantinis.
One survey in late March 2020 found that 90% of shoppers were hesitant to shop in stores because of the coronavirus and 45% expected online shopping would be a necessity for them during the crisis.*
Now is a great time to jump on a phone consultation to click through your website and determine what can/should be updated to capture some of the dollars that are being spent online like never before.
I'M STILL A LITTLE NERVOUS (OR I LIVE OUTSIDE CALIFORNIA). CAN YOU BUILD ME A WEBSITE WITHOUT MEETING UP IN PERSON?
100%. I do it all the time. As long as you don't need me to photograph your or your business, the website design process can be completed totally remotely, using emails and phone/video calls. At the end of the project I'll train you via screen share (on Zoom) how to make basic edits to your spiffy new website. Check out examples of past website projects here >>
