Holey moley if this qualifies as a "backyard wedding," it's giving all other backyard weddings a serious run for their money. For starters, most backyards don't overlook a canyon in the Santa Monica mountains and the famous Getty Museum. To continue, most backyards don't have an infinity pool like this with a platform built over it for the bride and groom to say their vows. I'll stop there. Just look at the pictures.
Abby and Thomas' Malibu ranch wedding was complete with a sunset cameo appearance by Abby's beloved horse. Also a surprise visit from the Malibu fire department to wish the happy couple well!
Venue: Stonewall Ranch, Malibu, Calif. Delaney and Tanner are moving out of state and they decided to take some beautiful couple photos at El Matador Beach before they close this California chapter. Love this idea! And Delaney's dress is on point. (Click "Read More" to view the whole gallery.)
These out-of-towners love to travel, so they planned a magical getaway to sunny Southern California to celebrate their engagement, and they remembered to book these special engagement photos while they were in town! Cheers to Alexa and Matt! Congrats on your engagement and your upcoming wedding. Come see me in Malibu on the honeymoon!
Moorea and Ryan's Paradise Cove wedding in Malibu was a whole vibe. The couple met in Malibu through their time as students at Pepperdine University. Their wedding took place at Paradise Cove, just a stone's throw from the house the bride grew up in. Because of the presence of lifelong friends and neighbors, the whole day felt a little bit like an elevated block party meets family reunion meets editorial surf-style content shoot. The sun was perfect, the wispy clouds hung on for just the right light, and sets of clean surfable waves dragged the Paradise Cove beach all afternoon and into the evening.
Moorea and Ryan did a bunch of fun things to make the wedding day their own, but my favorite by far was the switcheroo they pulled between the cocktail hour and the wedding. In LA, traffic can be murder, so the couple opted to plan a cocktail hour when all the guests and friends could mingle with the bride and groom and family before the ceremony began. It was the perfect way for everyone to gather and catch up and spend the afternoon together. Coordinator: Misha (sister of the bride) Venue: Paradise Cove, Malibu, CA Officiant: Xanthe (friend of the couple) Food/Beverage/Catering: Maria (friend of the couple) Videographer: Ryan and Helen (family friend who will be taking film photos as a gift) DJ/Music: J & J Events Cake: Clay at Big Sugar Bake Shop Dress: Jenny Yoo There is a lot to look forward to these days... and Matthew and Maria's wedding is one of them! I can't wait for these two to tie the knot in Mexico this spring (mezcal tasting, anyone?), but for now I just get to hang out with them as a rad engaged couple and enjoy sunset beach clifftop picnics in Malibu with them.
Love you both. May your love continue to grow as you take on the world side by side. Coordinator: Kaycie Fellows, Critic’s Choice

Truly there's enough love here to fill the ocean and have more to spare! Steven and Contessa were on a getaway to sunny southern California and he planned a little something extra... a marriage proposal! He called me up and I helped plan the perfect surprise setup: dinner (so she would be dressed up) and a sunset drive up Pacific Coast Highway. They stopped off at the dreamy El Matador State Beach and, well, you can look through the pictures to gather the rest. Proposals are my favorite, FAVORITE, FAVORITE thing ever because this is real life! This is the good stuff.
Congratulations Steven and Contessa! May your love be one for the ages. Lucas and Lindsay's breathtaking Point Dume elopement had just the right amount of coastal breeze to lift her veil and provide a dramatic backdrop to their intimate vows. It also helps that Lucas is French and therefore showed up with a PER-FECT-LY tailored suit and the most suave demeanor. It's no wonder Lindsay is smitten with him. The two said their vows to love and cherish one another forever at the beautiful cliffscape state park of Point Dume. This is a wonderful choice to elope because there isn't much foot traffic so they had the whole coastal view to themselves.
Blessings to you both as you begin the adventure of your life together. (Read more to view the full gallery from this fantastic Malibu elopement.) I'm so glad the Slones stayed at Calamigos Ranch so we could take their family pictures together on the property! The Ranch is such a beautiful natural setting for photos (it's no wonder it's also a very popular wedding venue!) filled with mini-forests and cultivated gardens. We shot these photos mid-morning while the grounds were quiet and explored some of the gardens and buildings on the property. Lucky us we happened upon this very stylish chair for some editorial-style family pictures to go along with the more casual, natural ones. (Click "Read More" below to view more photos from the Slone's gallery)
Please note: Calamigos Ranch is not open to the public. It is a private guest ranch, which means only guests staying on the property are allowed to schedule photo sessions. If you are planning a stay at Calamigos Ranch, give me a shout and let's schedule a family photo session for you! |
