So you've got this amazing team. Beautiful location. World class wine, food, hospitality, view, décor, the list goes on. Now you just need some great images to communicate that reality. New head shots, stock images for the website, print and digital promo, the works. Photos that will represent your identity well.
That's what Malibu Beach Inn needed when they reached out to me for some not-your-average head shots of their team. Read more to meet the Malibu Beach Inn team, shining bright in their natural habitat. Imagine Fest is a yoga and music festival that occurs in Malibu, CA, every year. The vibe is natural, youthful, and artistic, sprinkled with a generous helping of palo santo smoke. This photo shoot provided the foundation for their promotional efforts this year: from poster backgrounds to social media posts and website banners.
Malibu Wines is a popular summertime hangout where locals can pack a picnic, sip some great local wine, and kick their shoes off as the hot summer days turn into perfect summer evenings. Sometimes Malibu Wines brings in comedians or plays classic films on the lawn. Can life get any better?
Malibu Wines reached out in need of some quality lifestyle photography to power their visuals on social media (particularly Instagram) and their web presence. BIRTHFIT is a worldwide community of educators who want to see a world where childbirth is empowered and elevated. They held their annual summit in Venice, CA, and it was complete with some functional training, talks, workshops, yoga, and a closing circle. These are images that BIRTHFIT HQ (whose website I built!) and the various BIRTHFIT regional directors (many of whose websites I also built!) will use for social media and to spruce up their websites with quality images.
Check out some of my fave snaps. I love staycations as much as the next girl, so when the stunningly beautiful luxury beach front hotel, Malibu Beach Inn, reached out for photography in exchange for a free stay on a weeknight, it took me about 0.3 seconds to say heck yeah and offer a date.
Another month, another beautifully styled photo shoot filled with one-of-a-kind pieces from Honey & Oak. If you haven't seen their work yet, Honey & Oak is an artist collective based in Santa Barbara, California. Each month, their artists make, find & curate pieces that will make your world a little more whimsical and beautiful.
I had a great time shooting October product photography for the launch of Honey & Oak, a women-owned artist collective that offers a monthly rotation of handmade, found, curated objects that fit a soulful, nature-guided theme.
The site also features live feeds from each of Taylor's social media accounts, and a media page packed with easy downloadables. Lauren then went on to print business cards with the new website url, and wrap them up as a stocking stuffer for Taylor to open on Christmas Eve. I'd say Lauren gets the wife of the year award. Like all websites I build, this site is responsive (meaning it resizes and reformats when the browser window is resized for a narrow screen). Photography credit: Safeena Padder
Event Branding & Collateral: Website: Front/Back of a 4x6 post card for direct mail: Like this? A branding scheme that shows up in social media posts, print materials, and digital broadcast forums (like a website) is called an integrated marketing strategy. These projects are a BLAST for me because I get to do it all and every piece matches.

The Year 2 Day 1 sophomore class retreat is one of my favorite projects every year because it incorporates LOTS of different types of creativity—all of which I love!
The work on Year 2 Day 1 begins in the spring, with publicity to get the word out and encourage students to sign up. This occurs in the form of print posters, post cards, social media, and an e-blast.
Once we got everyone signed up, we sent out Coachella-inspired festival boxes filled with the usual swag: t-shirt, water bottle, sticker, "tickets" to the event, and a packing list. We got some positive momentum going by launch an instagram photo contest and encouraging students to post creative photos of their swag. The winner received a brand new Eno hammock (in Pepperdine colors).
Once all the materials are designed and printed and the students are gathered, my role switches from graphic designer to media journalist. During the entire retreat, my main job is to capture all the little moments that make camp great in photo, video, and social media. Check out a few of my fave photos below + the final retreat video!
Like these? I shoot lots of events! Check out some other events I've covered here.
