Oh this sweet growing family of almost four! And what a lovely purple, gold, and peach sunset to serve as the backdrop for these beachy family photos. These snaps here are documenting the brief days before Baby Luke made his entrance into the world. Back when big brother Isaiah still wasn't entirely sure what it meant to be a big brother. I'm so glad I got to spend this sunset with the Begert family, when Isaiah was the only One and the whole world was waiting for little Two.
The amazing M family is growing and changing and with every added human, I think the love this family shares seems to double! We planned these beautiful beach family photos at El Matador Beach in Malibu, CA, to make the most of the early winter sunsets (kids need to eat dinner!) Between the hugs, kisses, splashes, rock scrambles, and cave exploring, we were able to capture so many beautiful moments that this awesome family will treasure for years to come.
The Horn family planned a beach vacation and thought ahead... to beach family photos! The Horns are expecting baby #2, a little sister for their son, and they are SO excited to welcome a new little one into the world.
We met at El Matador State Beach for some family and maternity photos, snapping a mix of candids and posed, laughing and connecting and appreciating the sunset as the sky turned gold and then pink and then blue. I feel like you could rename this family photoshoot, "The Many Faces of Ford." This kid is a HOOT. He smiles, he roars, he laughs, he yells, he pouts, he smolders, and he does it all in rapid succession on after the other.
We scheduled this sweet beach family photo session in Malibu at El Matador Beach on a beautiful weekday evening in October. (Weekday is key... that's why we have the whole beach to ourselves!) Cam and Abby are friends of mine who I've known since their newlywed days at law school. Now here they are with a firecracker of a son, expecting another in the new year! Loved shooting this beautiful sunny family session at our legendary El Matador coastline. The Blunt family is growing and they get sweeter by the day! I have loved documenting this beautiful family as they celebrate milestones and their love deepens as their numbers grow. What a beautiful, softly lit afternoon at El Matador State Beach for family and maternity photos.
Just when I thought the Humkar family couldn't get any cuter, they go and make another baby! I’m so excited to welcome baby Zara into the world but for now, I sure am enjoying snapping photos of little Zayne cuddling with dad and kissing Mama Rina’s belly. Loved shooting this family session on a foggy marine layer-y June day at El Matador State Beach in Malibu.
And then ten days later, I was at the hospital photographing Zara's birth! >> How ultra-fitting that Malibu burst into a riot of green regrowth and bright yellow wild flowers in the months after the Woolsey Fire, right around the time Maile's belly is bursting with the life of the Arroyo's first son. Baby Apollo, you're going to be a legend.
What a delightful afternoon: perfect springtime light, tipping shades of gold over the crests and hillsides of Malibu's coastline, plus a family of three-almost-four in a sweet season of expectation and excitement. The Mancuso family—Brad, Liz (8 months along with new baby), and soon-to-be-big-brother Justus—and I spent an hour exploring one of my favorite hillsides up Corral Canyon in Malibu. With dizzying ocean views, soft grasses most of the year, and the glowing depths of the canyon behind us, everywhere we turned was a frame-worthy portrait backdrop. Add to that little Justus stealing the camera show, and a little magic was bound to happen.
Nicholas and Sheena are doing it right: babymoon to Malibu before little Saylor arrives. The pair are from Chicago but visited Malibu for a few days to relax and enjoy one another's company (and some warmer weather) before their daughter arrives to rock their world. Though I met Nicholas and Sheena moments before I started snapping photos, they were game for a (pretty steep) hike up the cliffside to catch the golden light, then also flexible enough to pivot and hide from the (not cold but still blustery) winter winds.
Enjoy these sweet snaps from a session that was part maternity, part couple, and all perfection. Wow wow wow, this is magic. With a little one turning two, a new baby on the way, and so much love to share, the Zachary family showed up on this windy hillside in Malibu with all the smiles, snuggles, and nose kisses.
This Corral Canyon location has it all: sweeping ocean views, golden hillside, canyon backdrop, and all pretty much hidden from roads (and people for that matter). Little did we know, less than a week later after these photos were taken, new baby Zachary was with us earthside. Like I said.... magic. |
