So you've got this amazing team. Beautiful location. World class wine, food, hospitality, view, décor, the list goes on. Now you just need some great images to communicate that reality. New head shots, stock images for the website, print and digital promo, the works. Photos that will represent your identity well.
That's what Malibu Beach Inn needed when they reached out to me for some not-your-average head shots of their team. Read more to meet the Malibu Beach Inn team, shining bright in their natural habitat. One of my favorite clients is SCU•Presents, the performing arts center at Santa Clara University. The key to filling seats in their performing arts venues is to have great marketing, and the key to great marketing is the spiffy posters I make for each music, theatre, and dance production.
I work closely with the SCU•Presents marketing manager to create each poster, based on a design brief. Once each poster is finalized, it is used in digital and promotional print efforts, from posters to postcards, email and social media blasts. Below is a sampling of the posters I created for SCU•Presents in 2017. Imagine Fest is a yoga and music festival that occurs in Malibu, CA, every year. The vibe is natural, youthful, and artistic, sprinkled with a generous helping of palo santo smoke. This photo shoot provided the foundation for their promotional efforts this year: from poster backgrounds to social media posts and website banners.
Malibu Wines is a popular summertime hangout where locals can pack a picnic, sip some great local wine, and kick their shoes off as the hot summer days turn into perfect summer evenings. Sometimes Malibu Wines brings in comedians or plays classic films on the lawn. Can life get any better?
Malibu Wines reached out in need of some quality lifestyle photography to power their visuals on social media (particularly Instagram) and their web presence. Pepperdine School of Law Stock Photography, Brand Photography, Lifestyle Photography | Malibu, CA12/2/2016
Pepperdine University has a world-class school of law with an unbeatable beach town location and an unforgettable group of students. They hired me to help tell their story.
The site also features live feeds from each of Taylor's social media accounts, and a media page packed with easy downloadables. Lauren then went on to print business cards with the new website url, and wrap them up as a stocking stuffer for Taylor to open on Christmas Eve. I'd say Lauren gets the wife of the year award. Like all websites I build, this site is responsive (meaning it resizes and reformats when the browser window is resized for a narrow screen). Photography credit: Safeena Padder
...or click through the photos/explanations below! As you can see, the site looks as great on mobile as it does on a laptop. That's important because over 40% of browsing now occurs on devices such as smartphones or tablets. The site is responsive, which means it senses the size of the viewing window and adjusts the content (photos & text) accordingly. As you click through the slideshow below, you'll notice that the site is heavily image-based, with full-width banner images on each page. All the photos were taken at the same time/location, so the lighting and style create a cohesive thread throughout the site. I wanted the site to have some style, with a subtle color scheme and design elements that reflect Malibu's southern California style. The off-center text, bold page headings, and gold buttons on a white page background bring in a clean, magazine page layout feel. My personal website philosophy is that YOU should be able to make updates to your site. Too often, a business will shell out thousands of dollars for a site that they can't. even. update. To me, that is unacceptable. I'll make the site beautiful, organize the information in a way that makes sense, and create a cohesive representation of your business. Then I hand over the keys and teach you to make basic edits to the existing content, such as changing/adding text, changing/adding photos, and even creating new pages. Of course I'm always available to jump in and help with updates if you get stuck, but I want you to feel empowered and excited to take control of your online presence.
If your website is a dog, think of me as the obedience trainer. I'll create the masterpiece, but you get to take it from there. Do you like how that sounds? Need a website for your yoga studio, or private training business? I love working with clients in the health and wellness space because there is SO much potential for beautiful photography and positive messaging. Let's talk about creating you a website you love! Shoot me an email or check out the rest of my website projects.
Pride Water Polo is a local youth water polo club that prepares its athletes to be leaders in and out of the pool. They hired me to shoot and edit a promotional video that features interviews with coaches, parents & athletes, about what makes Pride stand out.

In addition to shooting footage, collecting interviews, and cutting the whole project together, I also shot a bunch of stills of the athletes and coaches in action (couldn't resist, I'm a photographer too!) These images will be valuable assets in Pride's social media, web & print marketing efforts. Catch up with Pride Water Polo Club on their website or facebook page.
Like this? This was a fun project because it integrates a combination of skills. Take a look at more videos on my videos page and more sport & fitness photography on my sport photography page.
Got to design a fun little set of invitations and post cards for lululemon athletica, one of my all time favorite clients! These pieces will accompany a swag bag, filled with all the necessities for getting the most out of Wanderlust Oahu, compliments of lululemon. I used lululemon's custom island illustration asset that will be printed on shirts and show up throughout their festival collateral and tied it all together with the company's brand fonts & style, with a little flair.
