One of the things I love about living in Malibu is being just a few minutes from the ocean. So that means that pretty much the only thing that could make me jealous is a room right on the beach, just a couple meters above the salt spray and the crashing waves.
Dusty and I had an overnight here last week and were pampered by the staff, dazzled by the sunset, and energized by the delicious coffee in the morning. It's little wonder Malibu Beach Inn is on the roster of Leading Hotels of the World.

All-new in 2019, I'm offering a brand new type of wedding photography package to the menu. No editing, no post-processing. Just me, my artistic eye, my work ethic, my gear and a bunch of digital, unedited RAW files for you at the end of the night. It's not for everyone, but the Shooter-Only Package might be just what you were looking for.
Christmas time is usually the time of year when family portraits consist of magical frost-covered everything, cozy parkas and fur-lined boots. But in Malibu? We go to the beach and get our bare feet in the Pacific 365 days a year. Check out this sweet family of four on their Christmas vacation to Malibu, CA. (PS daddy-o is my brother Peter!)
With its acres of gardens, outbuildings, and prime beachfront setting, the Adamson House is the perfect setting for snapping a set of timeless portraits. Summer (with Mama and doggo in tow!) and I explored every nook and cranny of old Malibu estate and came out the other side with these gems.
Disclaimer: Summer snapped these during her freshman year of college, buuuuuut I'm still counting them in the senior portraits category.
Spend ten minutes with this couple and you'll hear about all the wild adventures they go on. Line dancing. Hiking all over these hills. Ever heard of Hash House Harriers? Yeah, I hadn't either until I heard about it from Hilary and Tim. These two are totally made for each other, totally in love, and totally getting married in a few months.
Hilary and Tim (who she affectionately refers to as "Cowboy") wanted an outdoor setting where their boots and Cowboy's hat would fit right in. Wildwood Regional Park, with its miles of rolling hills studded with patches of cacti gets the A-Okay from these two pardners.
Location: Wildwood Regional Park, in Thousand Oaks, CA, in the morning
Family is the most precious gift. And around November last year, that truth took on new meaning for many families in the Agoura Hills and Malibu area as hundreds of homes and a hundred thousand acres of land burned in the worst wildfire Los Angeles county had ever seen.
The Jackson's home was spared, but they were evacuated for over a week, just like so many of their friends and neighbors. When they returned, they returned to charred hills, mixed with random pockets of green that had been spared. Their family photo session had been scheduled for months (and we actually had to reschedule it a little bit because of the fire), but we decided to have the shoot anyway.
Scroll down to see the Jackson family, an oasis of life and hope, in the midst of the charred landscape of the hills above De Anza Park.
Twenty minutes of shooting, a handful of quality photos edited and delivered to you fast for your holiday cards... all without breaking the bank. It's the perfect solution for a quick handful of family photos!

Who says you have to wait until you're a senior in high school or getting engaged to get awesome photos made?!? For Lily's tenth birthday, mama Michelle had a brilliant idea: snap some beautiful portraits of this incredible stage in Lily's life. I love the way these photos capture the half-girl-half-woman stage, where she's playful and beautiful, sporty and sweet, silly and captivating, uncertain and unhindered.
And at the end of the session, after the sunset, she INSISTED that we snap some photos of her getting soaked up to her belly button in the waves of the Pacific Ocean—jeans and all. Every photo in this set seems to capture a different side of Lily, a different emotion, and different thought, and I had the best time snapping and editing these special memories!
Love this idea? Got a ten-year-old in your life that would love a portrait session? Check out my rates page or shoot me an email to talk dates! >> email@example.com
